Monk looking for some build advice
I've been playing monk for 2 years. Main character, Vanquished almost every area (9 to go) Done all missions HM NM etc and mainly ran Heal.
I've recently been looking into prot builds with the recent topics of boonprot and I'm not a big fan of maintained enchantments like Divine Boon.
Was wondering as a prot build whether I could run the following:
Zealous Benediction [e]
Reversal of fortune
Dismiss Condition
Gift of Health
Seed of life
Protective spirit
Shield of absorption
Selfless spirit
Suggestions on what I could do to improve this is welcome
(No Divine Boon pls :\ )

i don't run zb unless i'm going to be the only monk because if you target someone under 50% and another monk heals them enought to put them over that mark then goodbye energy return. it can be hard on energy that way. one elite i like running is life sheath and you can spam it around with selfless spirit up. other than that i wouldn't change anything

In general, I'd drop Seed of Life for Aegis, and Selfless Spirit for hex removal of your choice. Seed is a niche skill - the odd combination of its trigger condition and healing effect (small party heals) means it excels in one particular type of damage scenario and is basically worthless in others. Selfless is excellent emgt, but your bar doesn't need explicit emgt beyond using ZB efficiently; there's no real energy pressure there.
It's worth noting that you're probably better off swapping your high attribute and running:
WoH
Patient Spirit/RoF
Prot Spirit/Spirit Bond
(hex removal)
Dismiss Condition
Aegis
SoA
Guardian/Shielding Hands
You run the same prots at slightly weaker spec in exchange for better heals; for most of PvE, this tends to be a good trade.

Drop gift of health for either guardian or aegis (depending if its a 4/6/8 slot area) block % is worth a hell of a lot of saved energy neutering physicals.
Zb+rof should cover all the redbar you need if your protting right!
But seriously i know you dislike divine boon. but with selfless spirit it has basically NO downside..and would really turn up the power of your bar. /give it some thought yeah, or at least give it ONE run

I think I could do that, but generally in Hard mode sometimes I run Aegis instead of Shield of absorption because in my team I dont have a defined tank,so its good to take aegis as basically all of party are in earshot whereas sometimes, when i have a human/hero tank, they end up out of range.
Suppose i could give divine boon a try, but I do have sometimes trouble with energy, maybe because i lack healing/self defence amongst other party members.
And sometimes yes with Zealous benediction i do notice that I miss out on the energy gain because another monked WoHed my target before i get the chance to finish casting.
Generally when i play with my friend who is also monk, he will usually cast a heal quicker than me as its 1/4.
Burst, I do like the look of that build but I generally take Hex removal and I notice that as soon as I remove a hex, it gets put straight back on again.
Maybe this could be me causing the problem due to lack of overall party cond/hex removal?
Whenever I dont take hex removal myself, I will throw it on my N/Mo Discord support.
A problem with this is because heroes remove first hex they can cast on whereas as a human player can make sure they remove important hexes like Spiteful spirit on wars etc

It isn't worth it to run hex removal in all areas; the build is just a general idea. Naturally, you will have to be good enough with hex removals to hit the key hexes like Spiteful or Backfire; there's no point in removing stuff like Life Siphon.

Well if you friend will be doin the majority of the redbar pushing with a hbhealer ect you could try.
Lifesheath[e]
Seed of life
Shielding Hands*
Protective spirit/Spirit bond (if your partner has ps)
Shield of absorption
Selfless spirit
Aegis
Divine Boon
You get good Eman, heavy prots, small prots, partywide blocking and some pretty solid redbar! (100~per spell due to divineboon+div favour)
*i consider shields hands as the most optional slot for a hex removal, gole ect if needed.
>>or you could ApBoonProt :P but ill get shouted at for suggesting that

Personally i prefer a woh hybrid to a more dedicated prot build, there are lots of builds on pvx etc, but basically pve is pretty easy, so its about finding a build that you like.

great e-management, maintainable seed of life and aegis, just make sure to use it in good groups that call targets so you can use AP effectively (or use with heroes). Prot spirit is huge for prot in HM, this build definetly gives you the energy to be able to spread it.

I'm trying to steer clear of the AP builds. I have been using one in the past, but it was a smiter one, with AP, YMLAD, Sin support, Finish him, Bane signet, Castigation Signet, Spear of light and Rebirth.
I found myself often standing around during fights with this build so its a possibility I could end up standing around doing nothing in this too?

Selfless spirit has a 100% upkeep now..so no down time...so if you bork ap the worst case is.....you having to rely on Rof, soa, prot spirit, under boon and seed+aegis at their usual recharge times. all while costing less than they normally would.
The borking of AP really doesnt kill this build..but you DO loose the <3 of a solo aegis chain and more seeds than you can throw a charr at! and you have to be a little more carefull with your bluebar.
if you use the divine spirit version over the selfless then its a little more risky cos if you mess THAT version up you loose your eman till ap is back up due to the WAY longer recharge time if divine spirit.

Ok. I suppose I could give the AP one a try with Selfless, not divine spirit.
I do like some of the suggestions here and they have made there way straight into my template save space
Thanks people!
